White Water Rafting: A Complete Beginner's Guide

The Ganges through Rishikesh offers some of India's finest white water — here is everything you need to know before you get on the raft.

The stretch of the Ganges between Shivpuri and Rishikesh — roughly 16 kilometres — is the heartland of river rafting in India. It offers runs suitable for everyone from nervous first-timers to experienced paddlers.

The grade III–IV rapids on this stretch include the legendary 'Golf Course', 'Club House', and the thrilling 'Return to Sender' — each with its own character and challenge.

Evara Trips works exclusively with certified guides who follow strict safety protocols. All guests receive a pre-trip briefing, proper equipment fitting, and swim technique guidance before ever touching the water.

The best season for rafting is September through June. Avoid the monsoon months of July and August when the river swells and runs are suspended for safety.
